Elis Regina Carvalho Costa was born on 17th of March
of 1945, in the city of Porto Alegre - Brazil. Her songs are references for
everyone until now, not only in Brazil but also around the world. One of her
nicknames (Hurricane) shows exactly her talent to sing and to thrill millions
of people.
The Brazilian poet Vinicuis de Moraes gave her the nickname Little Pepper because of her laughter. Elis
could write her name forever in the story of Brazilian music (from rock to samba)
with her strong shouting. One day, God heard her scream and unfortunately took
her life on 19th of January of 1982.
We can only thank the Aguas
de Marco (Waters of March) that gave us this beautiful God’s present. Our
present wanted only a Casa no Campo (Camp’s
House) to sing Como Nossos Pais (Like
Our Parents) and mark our heart as a tattoo.
Bellow some curiosities about the hurricane called Elis:
-Highest Revenues: in the concert Falso Brilhante (Bright False) in 1976
Elis Regina could surpass the Brazilian record to a concert. The concert stayed
14 months in theaters with 257 presentations and 280 thousand people.
-Good Mother: twice Elis didn’t want to go in a
European excursion. She had three sons and didn’t want stay away from them. The
singer considered herself as a Brazilian singer.
- Instrumental Voice: the singer was the first
Brazilian which recorded her voice as an instrument in the Ordem dos Musicos (Order of Musicians).
